Serena & Michael – The Chateau Impney

Another one of our award winning bride and grooms. They had their amazing wedding at The Chateau Impney on a glorious sunny day with such amazing attention to detail and stunning family and friends. We couldn’t have asked for anything more from the day from a photographic prospective, with all elements of the day just falling into place like a fairytale. So glad we got to be part and capture this wedding day.

Let’s see what the bride and groom have to say:

How did your proposal go, how, where, when etc?

Michael proposed in Düsseldorf in Germany at the German Christmas markets on a big Ferris wheel. I had a rare weekend off so we said we’d go somewhere. We only booked Germany two days before so I had no idea at all that he’d be proposing, but he bought the ring a while ago and wherever we ending up that weekend it would have happened. I’d never been more surprised in my life. He really got me!

What was your vision/plan/style for your wedding?

We’re not vintage kind of people and when we saw Chateau Impney we fell in love. We knew we wanted a more glamorous, classic themed wedding.

How did you begin planning? Where did you look for inspiration etc Your venue?

Me and Michael had a particular vision in our minds so it took a very long time to find a venue that we loved. We looked at about 15-20 venues! When we finally found chateau impney, everything started to fall in place. We found a beautiful local florist and a venue dresser at a wedding fair and our vision came together!

Your dress and accessories?

My dress was designed by Martina Liana and has the most beautiful train. I had a tiara, a long veil and some Jimmy Choos of course.

How did the dress choice go?

I went to 4 dress shops and in every shop I found a different dress that I loved! There was just too much choice. However, the last shop Georgina Scott Bridal, I found my dream dress. When they fanned out the train and I saw the back, me, my mum and my sister just felt something different and I knew it was the one.

Grooms attire?

We saw the style at a wedding fair and knew that’s what we wanted. However, finding the fit and colour was harder than we thought! Who knew there were so many shades of Navy! We wanted the groom to stand out so opted for a different style waistcoat for Michael. We also made a last minute decision to opt for tails for the whole party! It was only when they came for a fitting that the tails just seemed to work and bring the whole classic theme together. Everyone looked so handsome, especially the little page boys.

Tell me about your bridesmaids?

I had my bridesmaids picked out for years, I knew my sister Emma would always be my maid of honour and my two cousins would be there. My three others were my closest friends from all stages of my life, high school, collage and university. They all looked stunning in their bridesmaid dresses. I also had two flower girls, one of Michaels little cousins and my God daughter who was only 1 and was adorable.

Tell me about your flowers?

Flowers were really important for me because real flowers make such a difference to a table centrepiece. Emma the florist at Flowers of Kidderminster was amazing, so creative and really an expert at her craft! The flowers we had were champagne roses, a pinky purply rose, eucalyptus, Freesia etc, it was such a beautiful mix!

Tell me about your cake?

The cake was made by one of my bridesmaids mum. She is a complete amateur, she’d only made one wedding cake previous to this. I was stunned when I saw it, it was absolutely incredible! Full of lace and crystals. It was raspberry and white chocolate flavour and was absolutely delicious. She really spend a lot of time testing thing out, I think it took over her life for about two months. I’m sure she was so glad when it was finally over and done with!

Tell me about your make-up?

I found my make-up artist online after reading lots of reviews. When I went for my trial and saw her make-up collection I knew she would be amazing! She did a very soft glamorous look which complimented my skin tone and wasn’t too over the top. She was amazing on the day, keeping me calm and reminding me to breathe haha.

Tell me about your photographer?

The photographer was a no brainer! My mum has known Nick for years and knew he was an amazing photographer. When she showed us his latest wedding pictures we were sold. The photographer and videographer were a highlight of our day; they made us feel so comfortable, they were quick, the guests loved them and the incredibly beautiful pictures speak for themselves! The attention to detail was amazing

Advice for other future couples?

I know everyone says this, but try and take everything in on the day! At times you can feel rushed and like you have to be in 100 places at once, but just enjoy your day with your new husband/wife and all your favourite people. Don’t forget to eat or breathe!
